These terms cover your use of the Aegis desktop app, browser extension and website. By creating an account or using Aegis you agree to them.

What Aegis is

Aegis is a digital wellbeing tool for Windows. It hides content that platforms label as AI, removes Google AI Overviews, blocks AI assistant sites, offers social media blocks, schedules and limits, and includes an optional password protected parental mode.

Your account

• You need an account and an active subscription to use Aegis.
• Keep your password safe. You are responsible for activity on your account.
• One subscription is for your own personal devices.

Subscriptions and billing

• Aegis costs $7.97 / month, billed through Stripe.
• Your plan renews automatically each month until you cancel.
• You can cancel anytime. Access continues to the end of the period you paid for. We do not offer partial month refunds.
• Prices may change. If they do, you will be told before your next renewal.

Fair use

• Do not use Aegis to break the law or violate the rights of others.
• Parental mode is for devices you own or are responsible for, such as your own PC or your child's.
• Do not resell, redistribute or attempt to bypass the subscription.

What Aegis is not

• Filtering is label based and best effort. Platforms change their pages often, and content that is not labelled cannot be detected. Some AI content will get through.
• Aegis is not a replacement for supervision, and blocking can be circumvented by a determined user with administrator access.
• Aegis modifies your system's hosts file only with your consent, and the uninstaller removes those changes.

Availability

Aegis is an independent project. We aim to keep everything running, but the service is provided as is, without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aegis and its creator are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the last three months.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top reflects the latest version, and meaningful changes will be called out on this page.
